Juan Mata has insisted he is “very happy in Manchester” and that he still has plenty of the city left to explore.
Mata joined Manchester United in 2014 after spending time at Valencia and Chelsea.
The Spaniard has endeared himself to fans with a string of superb performances coupled with pursuits off the pitch such as his weekly blog.
Mata admitted he is enjoying “laid back” Manchester compared to the more frenetic London.
“Now I’ve spent five years in England and it’s gone really quickly. It only seems like yesterday when I was in Valencia. I’m really happy with how it’s all turned out,” Mata said.
“London is fantastic – it’s like various cities in one but it moves so quickly – at a thousand miles an hour; it’s a bit crazy. Manchester is more laid back, it’s a normal city. I am very happy in Manchester. I have the feeling that I have only just arrived and I’ve got a lot of things I want to do.
Mata built a reputation as a playmaker at Chelsea and Valencia but he has flourished on the right hand side at United under Louis van Gaal. There were question marks over his place in the starting XI following the acquisitions of Anthony Martial and Memphis Depay this summer but Mata has responded in some style by really kicking on this season in terms of goals and assists.
