Manchester United keeper Victor Valdes is open to the possibility of moving to Newcastle United, according to the Mirror.

Newcastle’s Tim Krul is out for the season after rupturing an anterior cruciate knee ligament while playing for Netherlands in their 2-1 way win over Kazakhstan in a Euro 2016 qualifier.

The club have turned to Valdes as a potential replacement and the Spaniard is open to a switch.

Valdes has been frozen out at Man United having fallen out with Louis van Gaal over his apparent refusal to play for the club’s U21 side last term.

The former Barcelona man reportedly doesn’t even have a locker at United’s Carrington training ground and he has accepted his career there is over.

Van Gaal was said to be unwilling to let Valdes leave to a direct rival but Newcastle are facing a relegation battle having suffered a poor start to the campaign.

Valdes has no future at United but it would be a shame to see his career fizzle out given his vast achievements in the game. A move to Newcastle would make sense for all parties involved.
