Juan Mata named Manchester United’s September Player of the Month

Juan Mata has been named Manchester United’s Player of the Month for September.

Picking up 44% of the vote ahead of Anthony Martial, who received 42%, the Spaniard was a deserved winner after a fantastic month for Man United.

He scored three goals and also grabbed three assists including one of the best ever seen at Old Trafford when his backheel flick was turned in by Chris Smalling against Wolfsburg in the UEFA Champions League.

Mata really has made the right-wing position his own at United this season, something which not many fans predicted him to do. Now, he is one of the first names on the team-sheet and one of the most in-form players in the Premier League.

Not playing in the No.10 role is allowing Mata to ignore his defensive duties and simply focus on attacking which is where his strength lies – we’ve seen how that works in his favour so far this season.

Martial can feel hard done by given how well he played in September but there’s no denying that Mata is a deserved winner.

Who’s the greatest player in September? It’s you Juan, Juan, Juan, it’s you Juan, Juan.
