Paddy McNair and Ashley Young miss Manchester United’s game against CSKA Moscow

Paddy McNair and Ashley Young were both missing from Manchester United’s training session today ahead of the trip to face CSKA Moscow.

Neither player was involved in the match day squad against Everton this weekend and they will both be absent from the travelling squad which flies out to Moscow on Tuesday afternoon.

In Young’s absence, Marcos Rojo came in at left-back and put in one of his best performances in a Man United shirt, so there’s real hope that he’ll be able to step into Luke Shaw‘s and fill his boots until he returns from his horror leg break injury.

It’s good to hear that James Wilson is in training though. Van Gaal has already confirmed he’s not part of the squad for CSKA Moscow but the illness clearly isn’t anything too serious as he’s still able to take part in training.

Van Gaal’s team selection for the CSKA Moscow game is an interesting one. With the Manchester City match coming up at the weekend, United’s boss has to make a decision on whether to rest any of his players or not in order to keep them fresh whilst at the same time making sure we have a strong enough team to win the game.
