Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal believes the Premier League is the most difficult league to win in the world.
The amount of TV money in England right now has allowed many of the country’s top clubs to keep their best players.
As a result, there have been a number of upsets in the Premier League already. Chelsea have suffered a disastrous start to the campaign, while the likes of West Ham United have recored wins over Arsenal and Manchester City.
Van Gaal admitted that the ‘high level’ of teams in the Premier League makes it difficult to triumph come May.
“The Premier League is the most difficult league to win because of the high level of the teams. You cannot beat any team easily,” van Gaal said.
“It is a rat race and then you have to play also in the Champions League. It is not so easy and that is why English teams over the last few years have not won the Champions League because of the difference in the leagues.”
While the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool have fallen towards the lower half of the table, United have performed well so far this term and sit third. Van Gaal has done an excellent job of steadying the ship following the disastrous reign of David Moyes but it remains to be seen if United can mount a title challenge.
