Both teams seemed happy to settle for a draw and didn’t really manage to threaten each other. However, Martial was a shining light for Man United as he constantly looked to take on Bacary Sagna and get in behind the City defence. The 19-year-old went past defenders with ease and was a huge threat throughout the game as part of another fine display.
The Frenchman started on the left wing for the third consecutive game and was by far United’s most exciting player in a game of few chances. It was his first taste of a big game against the ‘noisy neighbours’ and Martial didn’t disappoint.
United fans were delighted with the forward following the game:
So lovely how Martial darts through defenders..stellar days ahead.

Martial looks the real deal doesn't he?

United supporters were disappointed to see Martial start on the left wing again in order to make space for Wayne Rooney to start up front. The skipper had yet another poor game and Louis van Gaal‘s decision to keep him in the side meant Martial found it difficult to make an impact.
There were moments of brilliance from the former Monaco man but playing on the wing meant he had a lot more work to do if he wanted to leave his mark on the game. Whenever the youngster got on the ball, City made sure they had enough cover and Martial found himself having to beat two or three players before he was able to drive for goal.
It was frustrating to watch but the ease with which the striker beat players and got beyond the defence was encouraging. Martial has proved time and time again just how good he is with the ball at his feet and he did his reputation no harm against City.
