Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has claimed that Lionel Messi is preparing for a move to the Premier League.
The Barcelona forward has reportedly become unsettled at the Nou Camp due to troubles with the authorities regarding tax fraud and the Argentine could be set to move away from the club he grew up at.
The Premier League certainly provides a stern challenge and it could be something Messi will want to prove himself in.
Balague reported earlier this week that Messi is the “closest” he has ever been to leaving Barcelona and that there is now a possibility it could happen.
“He’s never been closer to leaving Barcelona, he is thinking about it,” Balague said.
“He has heard from [Manchester City’s] Sergio Aguero and [Chelsea’s] Cesc Fabregas how wonderful England and the Premier League is. There’s an attraction there for a new challenge. He’s maturing, he wants to imagine himself in England and he watches the Premier League. He’s learning English in case he needs it. He is preparing for that possibility.”
If Messi does, in fact, decide to leave Barcelona and move to England, Manchester United will definitely be one of the teams in the running for his signature. The 28-year-old is arguably one of the top two best players in the world alongside a legend at Old Trafford, Cristiano Ronaldo, and the chance to surpass what the Portuguese did at the club could be a huge challenge.
Messi in the Premier League could be horrible for the teams that have to play against him, which is why Man United have to ensure they do everything they can to secure his services. Should Messi leave Barcelona, there will be a whole host of clubs vying for his signature and United simply have to make sure that they are able to sign the forward.
