Predicted XI: Crystal Palace vs Manchester United

by Sam Peoples

David de Gea – Still having nightmares about Sergio Romero against Middlesbrough…

Matteo Darmian – Antonio Valencia is injured so he’s a certain to start. Should have regardless.

Chris Smalling – Played 120 minutes against Middlesbrough but can’t see Louis van Gaal resting his defensive rock.

Phil Jones – Dropped from the quad vs ‘Boro, probably with Crystal Palace in mind.

Marcos Rojo – It’s either Rojo or Ashley Young at left-back and we’re giving the Argentinian the nod.

Morgan Schneiderlin Played a stormer against Manchester City, hoping he can make that his consistent level of performance.

Bastian Schweinsteiger – Michael Carrick definitely won’t play after finishing 120 minutes against ‘Boro.

Ander Herrera – Want to see him starting in the No.10 role.

Jesse Lingard – Deserves a place in the starting XI right now. He was ace against ‘Boro when the majority of his team-mates were poor around him.

Anthony Martial – Play him up front please van Gaal. Please.

Juan Mata – Still one of United’s best players this season and he’ll start.

Formation: 4-3-3 – This is more of a 4-2-3-1 with Herrera in the No.10 role but the reason I say a 4-3-3 is because t here has to be a real emphasis on width and stretching the Crystal Palace defence.
