Manchester United fans furious with Louis van Gaal over Ander Herrera comments

Manchester United fans are furious with Louis van Gaal after he singled out Ander Herrera for criticism following the 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace.

Herrera had an opportunity to put Man United in the lead but failed to convert and van Gaal felt the need to bring that up after the game.

When asked about whether United’s lack of goals is a concern, van Gaal said: “Of course it is a concern. I said that after the match against Middlesbrough, when we created a lot of chances. You have to finish the chances. In the last minute of the first half, Ander Herrera could have finished it but he didn’t. I asked him and he didn’t know why, so that is a pity. But I can’t complain about the result because I don’t think we were the better team today.”

The reason fans are particularly irked by this comment from van Gaal is the fact that it looks like Herrera is being scapegoated. I wonder if van Gaal asked Wayne Rooney the same question…

Singling out Herrera for a miss while pandering to Rooney and seemingly letting him get away without similar treatment? That’s one sure way to anger the fans Louis.
