Heerenveen defender Jerry St Juste happy with Manchester United links

Herenveen defender Jerry St Juste has opened up about the reports linking him with a move to Manchester United.

The 19-year-old is one of the more promising defenders in the Eredivisie and has worked himself into the first team set up at Herenveen this season. His impressive development and performances have meant that he has caught the eye and Man United are reportedly monitoring his progress.

St Juste is a tall, ball-playing centre-back who loves to put in a challenge, making him the ideal sort of player for Louis van Gaal. It is a huge honour for any player to be linked with one of the biggest clubs in the world, but St Juste is trying not to let the added pressure get to him.

The Dutchman told Helden about the reports: “I read it indeed, but I do not do anything with it.”

“I just do my best. That’s the important thing. What should I do with it?”

“There are always people in the stands and there is always people watching you. You should always play well. I have little experience with pressure. Do I have a dream club? Manchester United is a very nice club. The same applies to FC Barcelona.”

It seems obvious that St Juste would welcome a move to United if the Reds have indeed been watching him closely and if van Gaal chooses to act, could make him his first central defensive signing since the manager joined the club.

Van Gaal has shown that he is willing to give youth a chance and having spent a world record transfer fee for a teenager on Anthony Martial, he is not afraid to make sure he gets the man he wants.

If St Juste is, in fact, on United’s radar and Herenveen are willing to part with the youngster, it could just be a matter of time before he is playing in the famous red shirt at Old Trafford. However, he is still only 19, meaning he has a lot of work to do before he becomes the finished article and van Gaal may bear that in mind when making a decision to sign him.
