Louis van Gaal feels his players are still confident despite poor form

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is not worried about the character of his players as they go through a poor run of form.

Man United have failed to score in their last three games, which included getting knocked out of the Capital One Cup by Middlesbrough. The Reds have looked short of ideas in front of goal and despite dominating possession in all three games, have been unable to find the back of the net.

It is definitely a concern for United and the players will know that something needs to change. However, despite the dismal run, van Gaal is not concerned about the confidence in the camp going into a crucial Champions League clash with CSKA Moscow at Old Trafford.

“I cannot see that,” van Gaal responded when asked about his players lacking confidence.

“When I see their characters, I don’t think they have doubts about that quality. It can change in one match – let that be CSKA, because we need a victory.”

United will know that teams often need just one goal to get going again and they will be hoping for a bit of luck or something special against the Russian side to break them out of this unwanted streak.

A win is a must against CSKA and thus United will have to score but they will need to be at the top of their game to ensure they pick up all three points.

There have been signs of quality from the Reds but they just haven’t been able to apply the finishing touches. The likes of Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial will hope they can take their opportunities when they come and restore United back to winning ways.
