Anthony Martial feels he played badly against CSKA Moscow

Anthony Martial has no qualms with Louis van Gaal‘s decision to take him off against CSKA Moscow and feels it was the right thing for him to do.

The 19-year-old was getting marked out of the game as CSKA doubled up on him any time he had the ball and he found it very difficult to break through their resolute defence.

Van Gaal then decided to take Martial off for Marouane Fellaini and it was met with a chorus of boos from the home crowd but the Frenchman has stood by van Gaal’s choice.

“Work hard”. Martial’s attitude is more than commendable because I think he had every right to be frustrated at being taken off but he’s standing by his manager’s decision and moving on straight away.

The future’s really bright for this kid. Not just because of his raw talent but because of little touches like this that show how much mature he is for his age. Most 19-year-old’s don’t like he does and that very much has to do with the fact he’s already got a wife and kid.

Martial’s biggest challenge was coping with the pressure of his price-tag when he arrived at United. Now, his challenge is to adapt to defences which are now building their game-plan around stopping him and once he solves that problem, teams are going to find it very hard to stop him.
