Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has denied rumours that Riyad Mahrez could be on his way to Manchester United.
Mahrez has got off to a flier this season and has been one of the most impressive performers in the Premier League since the start of the campaign.
He has seven goals to his name from just ten appearances and there is no doubt he has been a huge part of the reason Leicester have started the season well.
The Algerian has been linked with moves to some of Europe’s biggest clubs after his stellar displays early on. Reports suggested he could have been on Barcelona’s radar recently, before he was touted as a possible signing for Man United in the January window. However, Ranieri has dismissed the claims, indicating that Mahrez will remain at the King Power Stadium.
When asked about the rumours, Ranieri said: “That’s good because it means we have very good players.
“It’s only speculation, he’s happy with us. We want to grow up and he will stay with us.”
Mahrez has lit up the Premier League since the start of the year and it is no surprise that he is being linked with a move to a bigger team. The 24-year-old has been on top of his game, alongside Jamie Vardy, and the pair have made Leicester a formidable side.
As is often the case with players from smaller clubs, they need to move on to pastures new to really make a name for themselves. The lure of the Champions League could tempt Mahrez away from his current side and hopefully United are on hand to secure his services if he does eventually leave.
