Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has agreed a deal in principle to replace Louis van Gaal as manager of Manchester United, according to Tutto Mercato.

Mourinho has been under intense pressure as of late following Chelsea’s horrendous start to the season.

However, he is still held in high esteem by some of the world’s top clubs, with Paris Saint-Germain among those said to be interested in his services.

Man United have reportedly stole a march on other sides by agreeing a deal for him to take over, although it is not clear exactly when he would take charge.

Sir Alex Ferguson recently revealed that Mourinho was one of the top candidates to replace him as manager of United in 2013 but the Portuguese moved to Chelsea instead.

Mourinho is undoubtedly a fantastic manager but his behaviour at Chelsea this season hasn’t exactly cast him in a positive light. The 52-year-old has berated referees, criticised his players and damaged the reputation of the club. While he practically guarantees titles, it remains to be seen if the Old Trafford faithful would be keen on his character.
