Manchester United plot £10m move for Chelsea starlet Charly Musonda – report

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is plotting a surprise £10m move for Chelsea youngster Charly Musonda, according to Talksport.

The 19-year-old is seen as an extremely bright prospect by scouts throughout European football, with clubs such as Arsenal, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City all apparently keen on the youngster.

Louis van Gaal has reportedly instructed club officials to make a £10m-plus offer for the player in January.

The attacking midfielder helped Chelsea to the U21 Premier League title in 2013/14, along with the UEFA youth league last year.

Van Gaal giggs

Despite the Belgian-born youngster being a relatively unknown entity throughout football, it is not surprising to hear of van Gaal’s interest in the player, especially in light of his recent comments, which suggest he is keen to give his young players more of a chance this term.

With Chelsea’s poor league position this year, Musonda could perhaps be tempted by the prospect of playing under van Gaal, with players such as Clarence Seedorf, Andres Iniesta and Xavi just a few who have benefitted from the Dutchman’s trust in youth over the years.

The likes of Axel Tuanzebe and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson have both been called up to the match-day squad this season, and if van Gaal gets his way, Musonda could be the next to join them.
