Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has insisted he is “comfortable in England” and that he is not thinking about a return to Spain.
Mata spent four years at La Liga side Valencia before joining Chelsea in 2011.
The Spaniard won Chelsea’s Player of the Year award in the 2011/12 season but he fell out of favour under Jose Mourinho and eventually made the move to Man United in 2014.
Mata is enjoying life at Old Trafford and revealed he is not thinking about a move away.
“At the moment I am very comfortable in England. Obviously, Spain is my home and I have everything here: family, friends,” Mata said.
“But I’m very happy in England, with the way of life we have and with English football. I would recommend any player to go and spend at least a year in England. So in the short-term I’m not thinking about going back, just about enjoying my time with Manchester United to the full.”
Mata has endeared himself to fans with his personality off the pitch and his performances on it and his comments will be music to the ears of the Old Trafford faithful. Louis van Gaal will be hopeful that Mata comes through the international break unscathed ahead of United’s game against Watford next time out.
