Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Kenny Jackett has revealed that the club are still interested in Manchester United’s James Wilson but that they haven’t made a fresh inquiry.

Wilson signed a new contract at Man United earlier this season but he has struggled for first-team opportunities over the course of the campaign.

The youngster featured in the League Cup tie against Middlesbrough last month but was forced off at half time due to injury.

Wilson has been linked with loan moves to a number of clubs and Jackett confirmed Wolves would be interested in the striker.

“We’ve kept an eye on it but we haven’t made any fresh inquiries in terms of James,” he said.

A loan move wouldn’t necessarily be the worse thing for Wilson in terms of his development and Louis van Gaal claimed earlier this season he would review the situation in January.

Wilson is clearly too good for U21 level and some regular first-team minutes for a Championship or lower Premier League club would do him the world of good.
