Red Star Belgrade midfielder Marko Grujic has revealed Chelsea are interested in signing him.
The 19-year-old has spoken to Serbian compatriot and Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic about the London club and it looks like Jose Mourinho is keen on the youngster.
Manchester United have already scouted Grujic and he was also part of the Serbian squad who won the U20s World Cup in the summer, alongside Man United goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic.
Speaking about Chelsea, Grujic said: “Nemanja Matic is a friend, he’s Serbian and he has been at Chelsea for over a year. He tells me that they want me.”
When discussing his future, Grujic added: “Right now I am at Red Star, we are top of the table and I want to win the title here.
“I don’t think that I’ll be moving in January, but there’s definitely more of a chance in June.”
You only have to look at the success of 19-year-old Anthony Martial to show that bringing in the right youngsters from around Europe can have a profound impact for any team in the Premier League, but there’s clearly plenty of clubs interested in Grujic including Serie A side Inter Milan.
The transfer window might not be open but as is always the case, we’ll track any news and try to follow their developments to keep you up-to-date with exactly what is being said in the press.
