Xavi hopeful Victor Valdes will find ‘solution’ at Manchester United

Former Barcelona midfielder Xavi is hopeful Victor Valdes will find a “solution soon” as the keeper continues to be frozen out at Manchester United.

Valdes has been forced to train with Man United’s youth teams following a falling out with Louis van Gaal.

The Spaniard has reportedly been denied a locker at United’s Carrington training ground and threatened with a fine if he mingles with the first-team.

Xavi, who played with Valdes at Barcelona, admitted he is “sad” for his former teammate.

“[Van Gaal and Valdes] are two strong characters, but it’s a difficult situation for Victor,” said Xavi.

“Let’s hope he finds a solution soon. I’m sad for him. He’s a great professional, a good person. He’s training, he’s working hard. He’ll return to football. It’s better for Victor to be playing football.”

Valdes’ standing at the club seems to be beyond repair and it will be best for all parties if the keeper moves on as quickly as possible. Newcastle United have been linked with a move for Valdes in the January transfer window and it would be a good transfer for the player.
