Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard has thanked fans for their show of solidarity at Wembley prior to England’s game against France on Tuesday night.
Following the deadly terrorist attacks in Paris on Friday, English fans sung La Marseillaise at Wembley with French supporters before both sets of players stood together to observe an impeccable minute’s silence.
It was an emotional occasion and one that sent a defiant message across the world.
Lingard praised supporters inside the stadium and revealed he enjoyed catching up with former teammates Patrice Evra and Paul Pogba.
Lingard was called up to the squad late on following injuries to Michael Carrick and Jamie Vardy but he didn’t feature in the game.
He has enjoyed a run in the Man United first-team as of late and the winger will be hopeful of keeping his place in the first-team for the game against Watford this weekend.
