Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney ruled out of Watford game

Louis van Gaal has confirmed Anthony Martial will miss Manchester United’s trip to Watford through injury.

The 19-year-old left Wembley on crutches after England’s game with France and was expected to miss the game but van Gaal is hopeful he can return for the midweek game against PSV.

Marouane Fellaini, Michael Carrick and Antonio Valencia are all unavailable as well as Wayne Rooney who is ill.

That leaves Man United with a real injury crisis in attack and means our squad depth is set for its biggest test so far this season ahead of the massively busy festive period.

With no Rooney or Martial, James Wilson is the only natural striker in the first-team squad which means we could see Memphis Depay up front at some point.

Either way, it’s not a good injury situation for United and we’ve really been hit hard by the international break in the worst possible way.
