Manchester United injury latest including Valencia, Carrick and Martial

Prior to Louis van Gaal‘s pre-match press conference ahead of Manchester United’s game against Watford on Saturday, we take a look at the latest situation with our injuries.

Antonio Valencia is the only player who we know is definitely ruled out of the Watford game. He underwent surgery on his foot during the international break and is expected to be out of action for some time.

Michael Carrick is ‘walking comfortably’ around Carrington but we won’t know the full extent of his injury situation unless van Gaal gives us an update on Friday. However, we’d be surprised to see him starting at Vicarage Road simply because he hasn’t been training properly over the last two weeks.

Of course, Anthony Martial‘s fitness is what United fans are desperate to get a positive update on. The 19-year-old left Wembley on crutches after England’s 2-0 win over France and Didier Deschamps confirmed he suffered a knock to the top of his foot. Will he fit to face Watford? We all hope so.

Marouane Fellaini and Paddy McNair are the other players in question. The former didn’t travel with Belgium for the international break whereas McNair did go away with Northern Ireland and has returned to training after his rib injury.
