David de Gea and Memphis named in PA Premier League Team of the Week

David de Gea and Memphis Depay have been named in the Press Association’s Premier League Team of Week.

Manchester United’s goalkeeper De Gea was in inspirational form in goal and made multiple key saves which kept us right in the game until Bastian Schweinsteiger scored the winner in the final minute.

Memphis made a man-of-the-match return to the starting XI and his fantastic goal was a finish you’d expect to see from a player who has been playing every week, rather than somebody who has been out of favour for a number of weeks.

Both players deserve a place in the side and I’d argue Chris Smalling should be in the team as well because he’s such a defensive powerhouse now on a consistent basis that he’s without doubt one of the best defenders in the Premier League now.

That win over Watford was so much better than the 2-0 win over West Brom or the 1-0 win over CSKA Moscow because it felt like United of old. We didn’t give in and won it at the death after conceding an equaliser only minutes before. For a fan, it evoked plenty of memories and we can now go into the PSV game full of form and confidence.
