Manchester United enjoyed a very solid start to the season when it came to injuries. A short pre-season and careful planning saw us suffer very few injuries, but that was in the past.
Heading into the PSV Eindhoven game on Wednesday, Man United have no fewer than ten separate injuries and we’re going to run through them now for you.
Wayne Rooney: Missed the Watford game through illness. Van Gaal said he may be fit to face PSV.
Anthony Martial: Suffered a foot injury on international duty with France. He could have been used against Watford but van Gaal didn’t want to rush him, so there is every chance he’ll play on Wednesday.
Michael Carrick: Unlikely to face PSV but won’t be out for more than a few weeks according to van Gaal.
Marouane Fellaini: His situation is somewhat unknown and van Gaal was surprised to see he returned from the international break still injured.
James Wilson: Missed the Watford game with a swollen knee and I’d be surprised to see him in the team this week.
Antonio Valencia: Out for at least a few months after foot surgery.
Luke Shaw: He is still working on his recovery from multiple surgeries after a double leg break.
Ander Herrera: Suffered a hamstring injury against Watford and its severity remains unknown.
Phil Jones: Was substituted at the weekend with a twisted ankle. No estimated return for him at this stage.
Juan Mata: According to the Manchester Evening News, he suffered a knock in the Watford game. Hoping he’ll be OK for PSV.
