Manchester United’s mounting injury problems mean it’s almost impossible to correctly predict the starting XI against PSV on Wednesday.
I really like Herrera in the No.10 role. Personally, I feel it’s his best position. Without the added necessity of defensive responsibilities that come in a central midfield role, it allows him to really express himself in attack and that’s where he thrives.
Having Memphis Depay and Jesse Lingard operating on the wings as well would give him some great options for through-balls and with PSV likely to attack at Old Trafford, United will have a real opportunity to hit hard and fast on the counter-attack.
With Herrera in the No.10 role bridging defence and attack, it would also give United a bit more bite in midfield and in such an important game, Louis van Gaal may very well go for that kind of added protection.
