Video: Bastian Schweinsteiger at Manchester United | The season so far

Bastian Schweinsteiger – the Manchester United player. I’ll be honest, it still puts a smile on my face and even more so after what happened at the weekend against Watford.

Seeing Schweinsteiger celebrate wildly after helping Man United to a dramatic win was amazing. We had a 31-year-old, World Cup winning captain reeling away in jubilant celebration alongside a 22-year-old academy graduate in Jesse Lingard – it was so endearing.

So far this season, Schweinsteiger has been like an engine being turned on during a winter’s morning: he started off cold but slowly and methodically he has gathered pace and momentum, making United’s wheels turn faster in the process.

Since Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra and Ryan Giggs left, there has been a gaping hole in the team when it comes to leaders. Schweinsteiger’s arrival has changed that landscape and with every passing game he’s turning into a Manchester Fussball Meister.

He’s the sort of player who fans of other teams won’t truly appreciate Schweinsteiger and what he does in much the same fashion as Michael Carrick‘s influence was so understated for years, and so be it – United fans are enjoying Bastian in Red and long may it continue.
