Chelsea are ready to show interest in signing Southampton’s Sadio Mane alongside Manchester United.
The Mirror reports that Jose Mourinho’s side are ‘big admirers’ of the Senegalese forward and are looking at the possibility of a move for him.
Man United’s pursuit of Mane towards the latter stages of the summer transfer window surprised everybody but Southampton stood firm, held onto their man and he remained at the South coast club.
However, they are likely to face another battle to hold onto him in the upcoming transfer windows if more than one Premier League club is after him.
From United’s perspective, you can completely understand why Louis van Gaal wants more goals and pace on the wings because we’ve been desperately lacking in that department until Jesse Lingard started to show some real threat, or when Anthony Martial was forced to play on the left to accommodate Wayne Rooney.
It’s definitely an area of the squad where United need to strengthen but the curious case of Adnan Januzaj and what he will be doing on his return is another question to ask around this situation, as he is adept at playing in a wide role.
Although van Gaal has done plenty of spending and changed his squad so much it is almost unrecognisable from the one which David Moyes left behind, you get the feeling there is still plenty more spending to be done in the upcoming two transfer windows, especially with the increased TV deals and other revenue streams coming into the club.
