Manchester United’s David de Gea has backed Memphis Depay to get “back at the top of his game” ahead of the clash against the Dutchman’s former club PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday.

Memphis has struggled for form this season but he found the net against Watford last weekend on his return to the starting XI.

The focus is likely to be on the 21-year-old once again as he prepares for the game against former side PSV in the Champions League. De Gea insisted Memphis will be “really up” for the clash.

“He has had a tough few weeks and I’m sure he’ll soon be back at the top of his game,” De Gea said.

“He’s going to bring a lot to the team and I’m sure he’ll be really up for playing against his old club.”

Memphis gained a much needed confidence boost with a good display against Watford and he will be hoping the performance kick starts his season. There is undoubtedly a quality player in Memphis and he will need the backing of everyone at Old Trafford if he is to find his feet at the club.
