Luke Shaw is set to undergo a scan on his injury on Friday to determine how much progress he has made from his rehabilitation work.
The 19-year-old has already been back on the bike and in the pool working hard on building up the strength in his leg once again and Louis van Gaal is very happy with how he has done so far.
Van Gaal has given Shaw a little bit of time off ahead of a scan on Friday but is positive about the outlook.
“It is going very good with him but it’s also difficult for him because now the progress is not as much as in the beginning,” van Gaal said.
“Now, sometimes, he is fed up with the situation and I can imagine that. So I give him now, for example, a few days off because I don’t think the memories of PSV are good for him. I wondered if he was fed up because maybe it was the match against PSV and every player has to watch the game in the stadium to support their fellow players.
“So I have given him time off but, on Friday, he has a scan and then we will know more about the injury and how it is going.”
The speed of Shaw’s recovery has surprised every Man United fan. Not only was he on the bike and in the pool less than two months after snapping his leg in half, he’s also walking without a cast or crutches. It’s amazing how quickly he has been able to get back to that stage.
Hopefully the scan shows there are no complications for Shaw and he can continue his rehabilitation because we’re all desperate for him to come back as soon as possible because there are no doubts that he’s our best left-back by a long shot.
