Ashley Young urges Manchester United to respond against Leicester City

Ashley Young has urged his Manchester United teammates to respond against Leicester City this weekend following the 0-0 draw against PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday night.

Man United put in a hugely frustrating performance against PSV, particularly during the second half, and a lack of cutting edge cost them as they were held to a goalless draw.

The team will have little time to reflect on the clash as they prepare to face Leicester at the King Power stadium on Saturday. Young insisted United will be looking to continue their good recent league form.

“Leicester are the leaders, so this is a top-of-the-table clash. We’ll be looking to keep up the good form we’ve shown in the league over the last few weeks, and hopefully get the three points,” Young said.

“With the chances we created against PSV, we felt we should have won the game.

“In the second half it became open and they had a couple of chances as well. But we still felt we should have won, so there’s a lot of disappointment around the place.

“We’ve just got to pick ourselves up now and go again at the weekend.”

United’s success in the match depends largely on how they handle Jamie Vardy, who will be looking to break Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record for scoring in the most consecutive Premier League games.

Riyad Mahrez, too, will be a dangerous player for the hosts. However, United’s problems this season haven’t been at the back – it is going forward where they need to improve. They will need to be much more ruthless in front of goal than they were against PSV.
