Louis van Gaal reveals injuries to Marcos Rojo and Jesse Lingard

Louis van Gaal has revealed both Marcos Rojo and Jesse Lingard have suffered ‘minor injuries’ which ruled them out of Manchester United’s game against Leicester City.

Neither player was in the match-day squad at the King Power Stadium and Daley Ashley Young stepped in at left-back, while Juan Mata was recalled to the starting XI in place of Lingard.

It’s a bit of a shame for Lingard who has actually been one of our more direct attackers in recent weeks, especially in comparison to some of his team-mates, and there is no confirmed return date for either.

Hopefully as they are minor injuries, both will be available for Man United’s game against West Ham United next weekend but it’s another set-back for us with so many injuries currently affecting us.

In Rojo’s absence, Young was very poor in the left full-back role because his positioning was all over the place and although that was in part due to the fact we played with five at the back, Rojo’s a natural left-back so we need him available in Luke Shaw‘s absence.

We’re likely to get an update on Lingard and Rojo’s fitness in the pre-match press conference ahead of West Ham next Friday.
