West Ham United could be without star striker Diafra Sakho for their trip to Old Trafford to play Manchester United next weekend.
The forward limped off during the Hammers 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion at Upton Park on Sunday with an apparent thigh injury and could be unavailable for their crucial trip. West Ham will also be without playmaker Dimitri Payet, who recently revealed that he does not need surgery on his injured ankle but could be out for up to three months.
“That worried me more than the result,” West Ham boss Slaven Bilic said about the injury to Sakho.
“I don’t know if it’s too early before the scan but it looks like a muscle injury.
“It’s a big blow for us after Enner Valencia and Dimitri Payet.”
Man United will fancy their chances, especially with the London club missing two of their most important players. West Ham will, of course, still prove a threat from the likes of Manuel Lanzini and Mauro Zarate and the Reds have injury problems themselves going into the game.
Wayne Rooney limped off during United’s 1-1 draw away at Leicester City and could join a long list of players who are unavailable. Ander Herrera and Phil Jones were both injured an unable to take part in the top of the table clash against the Foxes, as United were forced into a tactical reshuffle due to the injuries suffered.
Marcos Rojo and Jesse Lingard both didn’t travel to Leicester either, having both picked up minor injuries and Louis van Gaal will be hoping the pair will be fit again for the visit of West Ham. United will be desperate for a win in front of their own fans as they aim to regain top spot in the Premier League ahead of Manchester City, Arsenal and Leicester.
