Rumoured Manchester United target Arjen Robben has dismissed speculation that he will leave Bayern Munich.
Recent reports have suggested that Louis van Gaal is keen on the 31-year-old, who he worked during his time in charge of Bayern.
The Dutch manager has been on the hunt for a star signing, with Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Thomas Muller and Neymar all linked with moves to Old Trafford. However, Robben quashed the speculation and insisted that he is not looking to leave the Allianz Arena any time soon.
“I never thought about a transfer [away from Bayern],” he said.
“I am happy in Munich; my family is happy in Munich. My contract runs until 2017. You can’t look too far forward in football, but everything is fine at the moment – I hope things continue this way.”
Robben is a fantastic player and one that would go a long way to making United a force in world football again.
However, it was always unlikely that the club would prise him away from Bayern. The Bundesliga outfit consistently challenge for the top honours and Robben is valued at the club. United, on the other hand, are a team firmly in transition. It is good that United are targeting the top players but they made need to be a little more realistic.
