Sergio Romero almost had a night to forget whilst playing for Manchester United’s U21s against Liverpool.
Man United were 2-0 up going into the last ten minutes but a horrible clanger from Romero gifted Liverpool the equaliser. Luckily for Romero, Sean Goss was on hand to spare his blushes by scoring the winner only a few minutes later.
For so many United fans, it was vindication which showed Romero shouldn’t be in our first-team and how important David de Gea is:

Nice strike from Sean Goss…3-2…Romero will be pleased…

We might not be playing very well as a senior side right but the defence and David de Gea have been in imperious form. How that would have looked with Romero instead is something that’s not worth thinking about, because we certainly wouldn’t be where we are in the table.
As for Romero, there’s little to no chance he’ll be playing again for United’s first-team unless injuries give him a chance and I think it’s just a matter of time before he leaves, much like fellow goalkeeper Victor Valdes.
