Manchester United set to terminate Victor Valdes’ contract – report

Manchester United are set to terminate Victor Valdes’ contract at Old Trafford following the keeper’s tumultuous spell at the club, according to Sport.

Valdes has been frozen out at Old Trafford following a disagreement with Louis van Gaal over playing for the U21s.

The former Barcelona keeper has reportedly been denied a dressing room locker and threatened with a fine if he mingles with the first-team.

The likes of Celta Vigo and Newcastle United have been linked with moves for Valdes but Sport claim that Man United will terminate Valdes’ contract altogether.

Valdes, who has won a number of trophies over the course of his career, is too good of a player for his career to fizzle out in the way it has.

Unfortunately, he is the latest player to have seen van Gaal’s ruthless streak, with the Dutchman famously falling out with the likes of Rivaldo and Mark van Bommel in the past.

He’s a world class goalkeeper but as van Gaal has shown with the likes of Robin van Persie at Old Trafford, he isn’t afraid at all to get rid of players who he doesn’t want in the squad, regardless of their history together. In that respect, the Dutchman is ruthless.
