Lingard fit for West Ham game but Herrera and Jones still unavailable

Ander Herrera and Phil Jones are both still unavailable for Manchester United’s game against West Ham this weekend but Jesse Lingard is returning to action.

With Wayne Rooney ruled out, Herrera’s comeback would have been a real boost to Louis van Gaal‘s squad but it wasn’t to be. Jones’ absence also places questions over who will play at centre-back if Daley Blind is drafted in at left-back in Marcos Rojo‘s absence.

Right now, Man United are certainly going through a lot of injury problems and they don’t seem to be easing up either. The festive fixture period in December is always one of the busiest times of the year but with a smaller than usual squad, it’s going to be even more difficult to pull through it.

We’re still hoping to see Herrera back in action as soon as possible because he really is crucial to United. When he plays, we play better. When he doesn’t, we’re far more cumbersome in attack – it’s pretty simple.

As for Jones, he hasn’t played much this season anyway and as long as Chris Smalling and David de Gea are fit, then our defence hasn’t lost it’s spine.
