Gary Neville thanks everybody for messages of support after Valencia unveiling

Gary Neville has thanked everybody for their messages of support after he was unveiled in Spain as Valencia’s new manager.

News broke on Wednesday that the ex-Manchester United legend was surprisingly going to take over the Spanish club and speaking in his first press conference, Neville revealed he only received the call on Sunday so it was a very quick decision.

Man United fans are going to be watching Neville intently out in Spain to see how he gets on in his first managerial role because there is every chance he’ll be coming back to Old Trafford in a coaching capacity in the future, so it’s the perfect opportunity to see him in action.

Fair play to Neville. He had a comfortable position with Sky Sports, was an England coach (a position which he will carry on with) and had a column with The Telegraph but he decided to jump straight into the deep end of management when the opportunity was presented. It’s the sort of thing only Neville would do.

First up for Valencia is a very tough game against Barcelona but Gary’s first game in charge will be a midweek UEFA Champions League tie against Lyon which Valencia have to win in order to have any chance to qualify for the knock-out stages. No pressure.
