Daley Blind comfortable at centre-back for Manchester United

Manchester United’s attack is a shambles right now but our defence continues to stay firm.

Alongside Chris Smalling, Daley Blind carried on in his role at centre-back and his partnership with the Englishman is continuing to grow.

Although Man United were lucky not to concede after Blind’s poor pass went straight to Victor Moses in the first half, he did have a positive game by numbers.

Blind completed 87% of his passing, created two chances, put in five crosses and had a 100% success rate with his tackles. Given that he wasn’t known as a centre-back before the start of the season, his versatility has shone through and is certainly a big factor as to why our defence is so resolute.

I’m under no illusion that Blind wouldn’t be starting at centre-back for United if we had another top draw defender to partner Smalling but nobody can argue with how strong our defence does look this season.

Now, if only we could sort out the fact we can’t score goals…
