Manchester United XI vs West Ham: De Gea, McNair, Smalling, Blind, Darmian, Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger, Mata, Fellaini, Lingard, Martial
Substitutes: Romero, Varela, Borthwick-Jackson, Carrick; Young, Pereira, Memphis
Louis van Gaal has made a couple of changes to Manchester United’s starting XI to face West Ham on Saturday.
Paddy McNair comes into the team as does Marouane Fellaini. The big Belgian is likely to start in the No.10 role in place of the injured Wayne Rooney and Ander Herrera, a decision which is likely to frustrate lots of Man United fans who would rather see somebody like Andreas Pereira or Juan Mata play in that role.
The big question is whether United will line up in a 3-5-2 formation or stick to the 4-2-3-1 which we’ve been using for the majority of the season. Hopefully it’s the latter because if not, we could see Fellaini and Martial start as a partnership in attack.
Right now we’re very stretched with injuries and until players return and become available, van Gaal is likely to chop and change from week to week more so than usual.
