Manchester United confirm 19 man squad for Wolfsburg

Manchester United have confirmed a 19 man squad will travel to Germany for Tuesday night’s gam against Wolfsburg.

The big news is that Morgan Schneiderlin and Ander Herrera both miss out on the match through injury, as does Marcos Rojo, Phil and Wayne Rooney.

On a positive note, Nick Powell has earned a place back in the squad only a couple of weeks after making his return from a ten month injury lay-off.

Here’s the travelling squad in full: De Gea, Romero; Blind, Borthwick-Jackson, Darmian, McNair, Smalling, Varela, Carrick, Fellaini, Goss, Lingard, Mata, Pereira, Powell, Schweinsteiger, Young; Martial, Memphis

Having no Schneiderlin in the squad is probably the single biggest problem that squad announcement. He’s been crucial to our midfield set-up and nobody else in the team has the energy levels of the Frenchman, so there is every chance our midfield is going to be very cumbersome against Wolfsburg.

Tuesday night is a crucial game for Louis van Gaal, arguably the most important in his career at Man United so far, and he’ll have to do it without quite a few players who would be in his starting XI when fit.
