Louis van Gaal has revealed he will speak to Ryan Giggs if rumours suggesting the Welshman will leave Manchester United to take up the vacant Swansea City job are true.
Giggs has been linked to the role at Swansea following Garry Monk’s departure this week.
The Welshman, who was widely considered to be a candidate to replace van Gaal at Old Trafford, is reportedly open to the possibility of joining Swansea. Van Gaal urged Giggs to speak to him if he wants to leave Man United.
“First I have to speak to Ryan Giggs by himself if it’s true,” van Gaal said.
“And [in that case], he’s coming to me. I never read papers and I think that it’s the truth. I’m sorry.”
Giggs is a United legend and his appointment would be hugely popular one if he was to replace van Gaal someday.
However, critics have suggested the 42-year-old lacks the necessary experience to lead a club like United. Taking charge at Swansea would solve that and give him an opportunity to cut his teeth at what is a very good club.
