Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard limps off against Bournemouth due to injury

Manchester United suffered more injury woe against Bournemouth on Saturday as Jesse Lingard limped off early on at Dean Court.

The 22-year-old went straight down the tunnel after being replaced by Andreas Pereira after half and hour played and the outlook for him looks bleak.

Lingard will be the ninth United player on the treatment table, with the likes of Ander Herrera, Wayne Rooney, Antonio Valencia and Luke Shaw all injured for Louis van Gaal’s side.

United went through an injury crisis at the start of last season and it looks like history is repeating itself this time around.

The club really need to identify the cause of the problem, whether it be van Gaal’s training methods or the small size of the squad meaning there is little chance for rotation.

United made it clear this week that they are expecting van Gaal to challenge for the Premier League title this week but it will not be possible if the squad continues to be tested like this. Perhaps the veteran Dutchman will look to boost his ranks in the January transfer window.
