Manchester United fans call for Carlo Ancelotti to replace Louis van Gaal

Patience has finally appeared to have run out with Louis van Gaal at Manchester United following the 2-1 defeat against Bournemouth on Saturday and some fans are turning their attention on who might replace the Dutchman at Old Trafford.

Pep Guardiola has been mentioned as a possible successor, but it is likely that Man United will have to wait until the summer before the Bayern Munich boss becomes available.

Some supporters have instead turned to Carlo Ancelotti, who would be available immediately having left Real Madrid earlier this year:

Ancelotti has enjoyed a long and successful career at the very highest level having won trophies at Madrid, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.

Some fans believe United are in immediate need of improvement if they are to win a trophy this season and Ancelotti would go a long way to providing that. Whether the Italian would join a club mid-season remains to be seen.

When van Gaal does finally leave United, the decision of who to replace him will be a huge one for the club. You get the sense that the team needs an elite manager if they are to push on and reach that next level.
