Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has reiterated that Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy will not be sold in the January transfer window.
Mahrez and Vardy’s goalscoring exploits this season have helped the Foxes reach top spot in the Premier League table.
There has been speculation that Manchester United and Chelsea are plotting moves for the pair in the January transfer window but Ranieri dismissed the rumours.
“I am sure we will stay in this way. We don’t sell nobody,” Ranieri said.
United are in desperate need of reinforcements but it is unlikely that clubs will let go of their star assets mid-season unless a ridiculous offer was involved.
Leicester are enjoying what is likely to be a memorable campaign and Mahrez and Vardy have been central to that. The latter scored against United when the sides met earlier this term.
It looks like United will have to look elsewhere for potential recruits. The hope is that Louis van Gaal has plans in place as the squad’s small size has been exposed in recent weeks following an injury crisis. A new signing or two could be the impetus that United need to kick on and make something of their slowly deteriorating season.
