Jesse Lingard has thanked Manchester United fans for their continued support as he celebrates his 23rd birthday.
Lingard has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign under Louis van Gaal this season having waited for his opportunity at Old Trafford.
The Englishman rose through the ranks at Man United and graduated from the academy system at the club before spending time at Leicester City, Birmingham City and Brighton and Hove Albion on loan.
Van Gaal started Lingard in the Dutchman’s first competitive game in charge against Swansea City in 2014 but he suffered an injury which kept him out of action for a number of months.
Lingard joined Derby County on loan for the rest of the season after recovering but there would fears that he wouldn’t make it in the first-team.
However, van Gaal handed Lingard an opportunity earlier this season and the player grabbed it with both hands, scoring in the 2-0 win against West Bromwich Albion in November. United have had a number of problems this season but it has been fantastic to see Lingard flourish in the first-team.
