Something has to change at Manchester United right now and one quick-fire way is bring back the 4-3-3 formation.
For some reason, Louis van Gaal decided to adopt a 4-2-3-1 formation on a permanent basis this season and although it has certainly sured up our defence, at the same time it’s contributed to stifling our attack.
I’d like to see that switch made against Norwich. Morgan Schneiderlin is good enough to marshall the midfield on his own which would allow two central midfielders, Michael Carrick and Ander Herrera, to roam in front of him and give us far more presence going forward.
Ashley Young has come back into the team for this formation but it could quite easily be Memphis Depay. My preference for Young lies in the fact that he has been left out of the team recently and I want to see him come in to offer us something different.
It all depends on whether Herrera and Schneiderlin are fit I think but if they are, then van Gaal should definitely be thinking about bringing back the 4-3-3 formation.
