Nick Powell took a big step on his road to full recovery with a fantastic performance for Manchester United’s U21s in their 6-1 win over Leicester City.
He scored two goals and could have easily had a hat-trick on the night but will be delighted at completing his first 90 minutes since returning from injury, as well as the fact he bagged himself a brace.
Powell really stood out during the game. You can tell his level is above the U21s in much the same fashion as Adnan Januzaj and James Wilson made it look so easy when they were playing there before breaking into the first-team on a full time basis.
Man United fans were certainly delighted to see how Powell got on:
This is seriously the best football I've seen from an #mufc side this season. Slick, quick and incisive. Powell could've had a hat-trick.

Powell could genuinely play his way into the team at this rate.

Powell now has three goals in three games since coming back from nearly a year out with a hamstring injury and the fact he got a full game under his belt is a big step in terms of improving his fitness.
With United’s first-team squad still suffering from so many injuries, we’ll no doubt see more of Powell in the coming weeks and if his performance against Leicester’s U21s was anything to go by, he will have plenty to offer when he re-finds his fitness and form with the first-team.
