Everton plot move for Manchester United’s Nick Powell – report

by Ben Topliss

Everton are interested in signing Manchester United’s Nick Powell, according to Clubcall.

Powell has featured in Man United’s first-team as of late having recovered from a long-term injury.

The 21-year-old scored two goals for United’s U21s side on Monday as they thrashed Leicester City 6-1.

Everton watched the game and were impressed with Powell’s performance. Roberto Martinez is now said to be considering a move for the Englishman, who is out of contract in the summer.

There were high hopes for Powell when he signed for United from Crewe Alexandra in 2012 but injuries seem to have derailed his career.

He made next to no difference in his substitute appearances against Bournemouth and Wolfsburg, although it was a big ask of him and it is a tad harsh to criticise Powell having been thrown in at the deep end in difficult circumstances.

At 21, time is running out for him to make his mark on the first-team and it’s starting to look like he is not at the required level.
