Paul Parker believes that Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal should “humble himself” and leave the club at the end of the season.
The Dutchman has come under huge pressure at Old Trafford following back to back defeats against Wolfsburg and Bournemouth.
Questions are beginning to be raised over van Gaal’s future at the club, with the likes of Pep Guardiola said to be waiting in the wings. Parker insisted van Gaal doesn’t want to “adapt to the modern game”.
“Maybe he can be humble and say to himself, ‘it’s not working’, and leave at the end of the season,” Parker said.
“Hopefully he can try to change things slightly before then and change himself as a person. Van Gaal seems like he doesn’t want to adapt to the modern game. He has got to throw away his book that he carries on his lap all the time and let United out of their shackles.”
Results simply haven’t been good enough under van Gaal considering the amount of money he has spent at United since taking over.
It is looking more and more like the Dutchman isn’t the man to take the club forward and reach that next level. If United fail to challenge for the Premier League title at the end of the campaign, the club may have to make a difficult decision in the summer.
