Louis van Gaal: Manchester United must win against Norwich City to bounce back from poor form

Louis van Gaal believes Manchester United must win against Norwich City this weekend if they are to relieve some of the pressure on themselves following back to back defeats against Wolfsburg and Bournemouth.

Van Gaal and his side have been heavily criticised recently as they have now gone five games without a win in all competitions.

Norwich have only been victorious once in their last 11 matches in all competitions and van Gaal insisted United have to beat them on Saturday.

“The only answer is to win this game,” he said when asked how his side can bounce back.

“It’s still difficult because we are playing in the Premier League, but at home you have to win, and that’s for sure. Norwich have had good results against top teams. What I always say, and that’s not any excuse, is that winning in the Premier League is not so easy.”

Anything less than three points against Norwich would see the pressure on van Gaal reach fever pitch.

He has not been helped by developments elsewhere, with Bayern Munich’s Pep Guardiola reportedly set to become available next summer while Jose Mourinho is now a free agent following his sacking from Chelsea. United have been poor for the majority of the campaign and van Gaal needs results and quickly if he is to keep his job.
